Halo: Reach title update will bring major changes, Armor Lock nerf imminent
Pistol receiving buff, reticle bloom adjustable
Big changes are coming to Halo: Reach this fall. In a lengthy Halo-centric post, Major Nelson briefly went over some of the changes bound for Reach
in an upcoming title update, scheduled for October. Additional details
were also brought to light at last night's Halo Fest event.
Armor Lock, everyone's best friend (and worst enemy) in multiplayer,
will be given a hard smack with the nerf stick. Plasma grenades will no
longer detach from a target in Armor Lock, and the damage absorbed by
this ability will differ based "on the amount of remaining energy a
player has, diminishing its effectiveness."
The duration of Armor
Camo is also being reduced, and a shield bleed-through effect will be
implemented, meaning sufficient damage that takes out that last fraction
of your shields can carry over into your health.
Following the update, players will no longer be able to block sword attacks with any weapons except another sword. For greater precision, the reticle "bloom" will be adjustable, making rapid fire slightly more accurate.
Fans of the original Combat Evolved
Magnum should be happy to hear that the pistol is being buffed,
bringing it slightly closer to its former glory. Additionally, Reach players with an Xbox 360 4GB console will be able to play the campaign and Firefight online without an HDD.
