First Black Ops II DLC
Activision has announced that the first of the four planned Call of Duty: Black Ops II DLC expansions, Revolution, will launch January 29 exclusively on Xbox Live (like previous Call of Duty titles,
Xbox owners will get DLC before their PS3-owning counterparts).
Revolution will contain four new multiplayer maps, one new zombie co-op
map, a bonus multiplayer weapon, and a new zombie mode that allows
players to take on the role of a zombie. Players can purchase Revolution
individually for $15 (1200 MSP), or pick it up as part of the Black Ops II
Season Pass bundle for $50 (4000 MSP). The Season Pass entitles the
buyer to all four of the planned DLC expansions and includes the
Nuketown Zombies bonus map.
The new Revolution maps are:
-- Downhill, a map set in a ski resort in the Swiss
Alps. Players can battle it out on the slopes and in the ski lodge, with
the ski lift's gondola system serves as a hazard.
-- Hydro, a map set in a Pakistani hydroelectric dam, where spillways will be a major obstacle.
--
Mirage, a map set in a luxury resort that's been consumed by the Gobi
Desert's massive sandstorms. The combination of open dunes and ruined
buildings will blend long-range and close-quarters combat.
-- Grind, a Venice Beach skate park where players must figure out how to use ramps and half-pipes for cover.
--
Die Rise, the new zombie mode map, pits the players against a horde of
zombies that have infested the ruins of a once-great Chinese metropolis.
Players wield Wonder Weaponry and can build complex devices to turn
against the zombies that infest the skyscraper-lined chasms.
Activision says that Call of Duty: Black Ops II fans have logged over 427 million hours in the game's multiplayer mode already. Revolution is the first Call of Duty
DLC to offer a bonus weapon, according to Activision. The bonus weapon
is the Peacekeeper SMG, which has its own set of weapon challenges worth
additional XP. It is automatically unlocked for all Revolution buyers.
The new game mode, Turned, lets players compete against each other “as a
zombie.”
