Pachter – Bioshock Infinite Delay May Clear the Way for GTA V October Release
Bioshock Infinite has sadly been delayed until next year, however this may have given Grand Theft Auto V a clear run at an October release.
CVG asked video gaming analyst Michael Pachter if the decision to push Bioshock back may be linked to GTA V,
to which he replied: ”If (and that is a BIG ‘if”) there is any
coordination within Take-Two among Rockstar and 2K Games, it makes a lot
of sense that management would have shifted BioShock Infinite to make room for GTA V.”
“It’s entirely possible that the Rockstar team just committed to delivering GTA V
on October 23 (write that in ink on your calendar), and Take-Two
management thought it imprudent to launch their two biggest games of the
year a week apart. I’m sure Irrational will make judicious use of the
extra time, if the foregoing scenario is true.”
“It’s also entirely possible that Ken Levine and Irrational have
truly decided to make the greatest game ever, and it will merely take
another four months to finish,” he added.
Purposely delaying one of the biggest games of 2012 just to release
another highly anticipated game seems a little weird to us. Surely it
would make more sense to delay GTA V since as an
open-world game it’s more susceptible to bugs and issues, and therefore
will take longer to polish. This appears to simply be the team needing
more time to ensure that the game is perfect.
