Dead Space 3 Details; Co-Op, Weapons, Isaac Clarke, New Enemies
Yesterday Electronic Arts confirmed a new Dead Space game set for release in Spring of 2013, and today new rumors emerged detailing Dead Space 3′s cooperative multiplayer, weapons, protagonist Isaac Clarke, and new enemy types.
The cooperative mode in Dead Space 3 will be similar to the single-player campaign, with Isaac’s story changing to accommodate the second player. “At one point in Dead Space 3, Isaac and his counterpart stumble, wounded, bloody, and missing chunks of armor, out of burnt wreckage together. In single-player, the same scene happens without the other character. While Isaac may have a psychological breakdown and experience hallucinations on his own, certain traumatic events don’t occur with someone by his side.”

In co-op, both players will work together to interact with different aspects of the environment, and the missions … including sharing ammunition and healing each other. There will be no revive system, so once your partner is dead, both players will have to restart from the last checkpoint.
Weapons in Dead Space 3 will be different from what we had in prior games. The new workbench will be different and will allow for further customization thus affecting the weapons’ default settings. The handy Plasma Cutter will now feature an alternate firing mode similar to the knock-back effect of the Force Gun. The Pulse Rifle now features saw-blades as an alternate firing mode.
Protagonist Isaac Clarke and his co-op partner’s armor will reflects that of Dead Space 2. Isaac will now be able to crouch, and perform a left/right roll … allowing him more flexibility in evading enemies. In Dead Space 3, Telekinesis will now allow you to rotate objects rather than just picking them up.
Along with his psychological hallucinations, new enemies will join the Necromorphs to haunt Isaac as he makes his way across the icy planet. These new enemies will be heavily armored human soldiers, geared with massive guns and grenades, as well as new tactics. Steal walls and spinning drills will make Isaac’s journey even more difficult … slicing players that come too close.
Massive worm-like beasts will burst from the ice and intrude Isaac’s plans, and will appear and disappear once taken enough beatings. “One of the more spectacular encounters features Isaac shooting a spider-like creature in its orange-tinted weak spot, as well as shooting arms and protruding sacs. This big thing will eat Isaac whole if he gets too close, so he’s forced to run around the arena and attack from a distance.”
These details are not confirmed by EA so consider them rumors. Dead Space 3 is rumored to be in development by the same team that works on the first two titles, and will be release in early 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
