Kinect 2.0 specs reportedly leak Kinect-2

Though Microsoft has yet to budge on the whole next generation console reveal, more and more details about the supposed Xbox 720/Durango are popping up almost every single day. Though for the most part all the gory details have focused on the console itself, new information has supposedly sprouted up about Kinect 2.0, and all its wonderful features.

The new information comes from frequent leak source VGLeaks, which posted a very detailed list of specifications and abilities of the Kinect 2.0 sensor. The most major improvements come in the shape of higher resolution and better color/depth cameras. The original Kinect offered a 640x480 RGB camera, while the 2.0 version will reportedly feature a 1920x1080 RGB camera. The actual depth of range for the camera will remain the same, though the viewing angles in which Kinect 2.0 will be able to see will be increased greatly. Kinect 2.0 will be able to cover 70 degrees horizontally (a 12.5 degree upgrade) and 60 degrees vertically (a 16.5 degree increase). The response time will also be reduced by one-third, with the Kinect 2.0's latency estimated to be ~60 milliseconds.

Other details about the software running Kinect 2.0 indicate the potential for the device to be running across multiple applications at once. The skeletal tracking will be improved, and the camera is believed to be able to tell the difference between open and closed hands, and can work even if furniture is in the way. Support for up to six players is included as well, and the device will purportedly include a better sensor for low-light conditions. With reports pointing to Kinect 2.0 being included with every single Durango, the changes do appear to be significant enough while still allowing the price point to stay down.

Like every other report about the next generation console from Microsoft however, these details are subject to change. Until the next Xbox is actually announced, we just don't know what to expect from Microsoft or the Durango.
