Slave to the Shadows Chapter 4
"You have a call master Senyo" said Senyo's maid. "Put it through Lauren" said Senyo. Senyo Genshika was the mysterious man who resurrected Gyone that night in the cemetary but he was better known as the CEO of Genshika INC. Lately, His business has seen better days; lawsuits, scandals, and drug possesion were only some of the things on their large list of problems. They were on the brink of bankruptsy, so Senyo's business has invested its remaining research money into the studying of a substance they have discovered in hopes of interest rising in their favor on their project codenamed "Nature's Sin".
"As you wish master" said Lauren. The face of Gore, general of the race of creatures known as the Anubians, appeared on the screen. "You son of a bitch, I'd rip you in half right now if I could!" said Gore furiously. Senyo responds "now now now, no need to get violent, what seems to be the problem here?"; "I'll tell you what the goddamn problem is, your so called pet is killing more of my men by the second!" said Gore smashing his finger into the screen. "We can't hold this thing anymore, if you want us to bring this Gyone guy to you, we're gonna need men who can actually fight, I'm already down fifty men asshole!".
Senyo, now annoyed, tells Gore "ok, bring him back here, but thats coming out of your pay". Gore says agressivly "it's better then getting eaten by this thing but you better pay up when this is over understand?". "Fine" said Senyo turning the transmission off. "Why do I even bother Lauren, you'd think a whole army could hold one monster" said Senyo. "But master, think about it, if a whole army of brutes like them can't hold that thing down, Gyone can't possibly destroy such a creature".
Turning to Lauren, Senyo laughs and responds "if you think that, then you really don't know Gyone like I do". Gyone, now out of Komeato, was headed towards Halsberth. Gyone thought to himself, "I wonder what had happened that day, I don't remember dying at all, the last thing I remember doing was a normal routine assassination, nothing went wrong, the guy was dead and I was on my way back to collect my pay. "And that dream, was that really Mia I was talking to, or was it just an illusion?". "ah! none of this makes sense; oh well illusion or not, I'd better hurry back home to Mia, she must think I'm dead by now, and hey, she always wanted a dog."
His concentration was broken by the sound of voices. Gyone looked to find the Muroshi's carridge destroyed, horses and family dead... but wait!
Gyone noticed a group of these creatures chasing a teenage girl. Gyone knew who these monsters were, they were Anubians, some are famous for burning down every villiage in their path raping the women and killing them along with everyone else, giving the race as a whole a messianic reputation for bloodshed. These special few were heartless and vicious creatures who would stop at nothing till their prey was killed. Gyone knew she was dead if he didn't help her.
Gyone jumped in front of the group of Anubians and pulled out his scythe; the Anubians rushed Gyone. He deflected all of the stabs, slashes, and swings of their swords and killed each one with ease. Gyone ran to the girl only to find an Anubian holding the girl down with a dagger to her throat. The monster said to the girl "ya didn't think you'd get away from us did ya?", and started to bring the dagger down to stab her. Gyone quickly jumped and deflected the dagger and held the scythe to the Anubians neck saying "I wouldn't do that if I were you".
Gyone slit the Anubian's throat and their he layed dead on the ground. Gyone pulled the girl up to her feet and started to walk off but the girl stopped him. "Wait" she shouted, Gyone stopped and asked "what?". The girl stuttered when she talked, understandable knowing that she just cheated death; she asked "would it be possible if..if you could escort me t..to Halsberth please?". Gyone stood and pondered for a moment then said to the girl "sure, I was headed there anyway".
"Thank you, my names Eve by the way" said the girl, " my names Gyone" said Gyone. "Now we had better get going miss Eve, it's almost sunset" said Gyone. Eve agreed and the two of them started off the path to Halsberth, but just as they were heading off, Gyone noticed something; " hey wait a sec... where'd the dog go?!" said Gyone with a shocked expression on his face. Eve, tapping his shoulder said "do you mean this one?", showing Gyone inside her bag. It turns out that the dog had jumped in when they weren't looking, "I swear your more trouble then your worth" said Gyone poking the dog.
"Hey don't be mean!" said Eve slapping the back of Gyone's head. Gyone, now annoyed, shouted "well he started it!!, Eve began to laugh. "Whats so funny?!" said Gyone. "Ohh nothing" said Eve petting the dog. "well, the dog shouldn't run off at the last minute like that" said Gyone,"ok, lets just drop it and keep going" said Eve. Gyone, smiling for the first time in a while, said "sounds like a good idea".
