Microsoft Pushes Hotmail Users Over to Outlook.com

Well, it looks like February 19, 2013 marks the end for Hotmail. Microsoft has announced
the full launch of its Outlook.com web mail service, and as part of the
push, the company will be converting all Hotmail accounts over to
Outlook. Apparently, the change will not affect Hotmail users' email
addresses, passwords, or contact lists.


Hotmail was first launched back in 1996, followed by an acquisition
from Microsoft the following year. The service has seen a number of
changes over the years, but there's no denying Hotmail's massive
user-base. Microsoft called Hotmail "the largest free email service on
the planet" back in 2011, touting some 360 million unique users.

Outlook.com does look like it's faring well, based on comments from
Microsoft today. The free service was launched as a "preview" six months
ago, and during that time has already pulled in 60 million accounts.

Just switched over to Outlook.com not too long ago and I like its design...well, so far.
