Remembering Call of Duty (2003-2009 R.I.P)

In these days, mentioning the infamous Call of Duty series will either spark two responses: 1) Call of duty is for crap 10 year old players who can't appreciate a real game or 2) COD iz best becuz i get quikscopzzz. I will argue that this series has seen a disgusting evolution in recent years; but if you are a seasoned gamer like me you remember Call of Duty for it's ground-breaking fast paced World War 2 combat which made for some rather tense, interesting, or even sometimes tragic moments in a narrative that held justice to that great conflict. Not just the classic WW2 Call of Duty 2 and 3 but even the series's first baby steps into modern combat (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare) showed tremendous promise in it's gameplay before it was shot to hell in the favor of small children players in Modern Warfare 2. If you find a copy of these overshadowed gems by all means give them a home in your collection; never mind the title... this is how Call of Duty should have been.

Buti wonder why did they skip the vietnam war and the korea they could produce something with these 2 wars but i wonder still why did they wait til 2010 to produce anything like that ?

Most likely to grab the last of the milk from the WW2 cash cow with World at War (which respectively is a good addition as well) until solidifying into modern and future combat
